Are you passionate about plants and excited to work in a dynamic, sustainable, and forward-thinking garden centre? At Gemmell’s Garden Centre, we’ve been delighting gardeners across Eastern Ontario with unique plants, stunning custom designed Victorian hanging baskets, and the latest gardening trends. We’re proud to lead in sustainability with our ecofriendly practices and a pot recycling program that’s helped reduce thousands of pounds of plastic waste.
Now, we’re looking for Production Assistants to join our team and help us grow the beautiful plants our customers love!
What You’ll Do:
● Transplant annual hanging baskets, bedding plants, and perennials with care and precision.
● Accurately prepare and pick wholesale plant orders.
● Maintain clean and organized greenhouse spaces, ensuring safety and quality.
● Collaborate with a dedicated team in a positive and productive work environment.
What We’re Looking for:
● Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to quality.
● A positive attitude and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting.
● Knowledge of perennials is an asset, but no prior experience is required!
What You Offer:
● Adequate knowledge of various plants and their characteristics OR a willingness to learn quickly.
● Comfort working in a team setting and independently.
● Experience in horticulture and/or production.
● Strong prioritization and initiative skills.
● Excellent communication and ability to follow directions.
● Flexibility with scheduling.
● Physical stamina to lift up to 50lbs, stand for long hours, and work in all weather conditions.
● Horticultural education is considered an asset.
