We are currently looking for Cashiers/Sales Associates to join the Smiths Falls team.
Garden Centre Sales Staff, Smiths Falls
Are you a friendly, outgoing individual? If your answer is yes, then Gemmell’s Garden Centre wants to meet you! We are a locally owned garden center based out of Smiths Falls, ON with another retail location in Brockville, ON. We provide a positive work environment that fosters creativity, development, and growth. As a team of garden enthusiasts, we are always looking for top talent to help us provide our customers with the best products and service! As a Cashier / Sales Representative, you would help us manage the visual representation of our store and present a friendly and helpful sales and work environment.

Tasks Involved
- Greet and assist customers throughout their visit
- Help customers process orders through the cash
- Maintain in-depth product knowledge
- Answer phone calls and respond to voicemails
- Support team members as required
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace
- Unload incoming deliveries
- Ensure sales area is organized, clean, and unobstructed
- Any other related tasks as determined by the Retail Manager
What You Offer
- Adequate knowledge of various plants and their characteristics OR an ability and willingness to learn quickly
- Confidence to learn our POS sales system
- Comfortable working in a team setting and independently
- Experience working in retail customer service
- Capable of prioritizing and taking initiative
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to follow directions
- Flexible schedule, weekends included
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to stand for long hours
- Able to work in all weather
- Previous sales experience is considered an asset
- Horticultural knowledge is considered an asset but not required

At Gemmell’s Garden Centre, we’ve been delighting gardeners across Eastern Ontario with unique plants, stunning custom designed Victorian hanging baskets, and the latest gardening trends. We’re proud to lead in sustainability with our ecofriendly practices and a pot recycling program that’s helped reduce thousands of pounds of plastic waste.
Now, we’re looking for Production Assistants to join our team and help us grow the beautiful plants our customers love!
What You’ll Do:
● Transplant annual hanging baskets, bedding plants, and perennials with care and precision.
● Accurately prepare and pick wholesale plant orders.
● Maintain clean and organized greenhouse spaces, ensuring safety and quality.
● Collaborate with a dedicated team in a positive and productive work environment.
What We’re Looking for:
● Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to quality.
● A positive attitude and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting.
● Knowledge of perennials is an asset, but no prior experience is required!
What You Offer:
● Adequate knowledge of various plants and their characteristics OR a willingness to learn quickly.
● Comfort working in a team setting and independently.
● Experience in horticulture and/or production.
● Strong prioritization and initiative skills.
● Excellent communication and ability to follow directions.
● Flexibility with scheduling.
● Physical stamina to lift up to 50lbs, stand for long hours, and work in all weather conditions.
● Horticultural education is considered an asset.
